Dover restaurants unite for Hurricane Katrina victims
The top dining establishments in Dover, New Hampshire and
surrounding areas are coming together, on Tuesday, September 27,
2005, for a fabulous evening to raise money for Katrina victims in
New Orleans. Restaurants and bars involved in and preparing
dinner courses include Cartelli's Bar and Grill, Dover Brick House,
Dover Soul, La Festa Wood-fired Pizza, Mason's Barley Pub and
Orchard Street Chop Shop. Other establishments include Zampa in
Epping, NH and Cacoa Chocolate, in Kittery, ME. The dinner will
culminate at the Crescent City Bistro and Rum Bar in downtown Dover.
The evening will start off with a silent auction and drink
specials at the Top of the Chop upstairs at the Orchard Street Chop
Shop and Dover Brick House from 4 to 6 PM. Complimentary appetizers
and a cash bar will be available for guests at the silent auction.
The dinner will begin at 6 PM at the Crescent City Bistro and will
be hosted by well-known local food writer, Rachel Forrest. It will
include a fabulous array of New Orleans-inspired dishes with chefs
from many different restaurants. Courses include a Jambalaya
Sicilian pizza from La Festa, Penne a la Vodka from Cartelli's and
Mississippi Mud Cake from Zampa. An after-dinner jazz party and
chocolate tasting will be hosted at Dover Soul to finish off the
evening. Wines will be provided by a number of purveyors to pair
with the meal that evening. Live music by musicians donating their
time will be heard at the different stops as well.
The meal will cost a donation of $100 per person and 100% will be
going to a charity to help the victims. The charity has not yet been
determined, but will be soon due to trying to find the best direct
usage of the money raised. The evening will hopefully raise more
than $20,000 for help for the victims. If you would like to donate
an item for the silent auction, please do so by calling Kurt at
(603) 749-0006 at the Orchard Street Chop Shop. If you would like to
make a reservation for the dinner or for more information, please
call (603) 742-1611. We ask that you pay with cash or check this
evening so there would be no credit card commissions being
withdrawn.
If you cannot make it to the dinner, but would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please make your checks payable to "Crescent City Bistro - Hurricane Fund". We are working with a local bank to match donations of any amount over $100. Space for the dinner is very limited!
